I am SO excited to share that I will joining the Canada Beer Cup as the head judge for their BRAND NEW packaging awards!
At the risk of a long-scrolling post like we've seen from our favourite food bloggers – I'm going to keep this story short and sweet. (And sorry, no, there's no recipe to jump to at the end).
I was introduced to craft beer over 5 years ago (I think), by a good friend's new boyfriend Dave (now her husband). He shared beers from far and near, and taught me about the styles and flavours – and while that's all great... I was generally ignoring him and giving a closer look at the cans and bottles. (Dave, I'm kidding - I've been learning!).
I love seeing the design, colours, brand, stories, humour, creativity and all that goes into giving those delicious beers their very own personality, and as a designer myself can appreciate the hours and care that breweries spend bringing them to life.
A few years ago, Dave had a vision for the Prairie Beer Awards. He asked if I'd like to oversee a packaging category, and I jumped at the chance. We're now on year three, and I was honoured when the Canada Beer Cup reached out earlier this year to see if I'd work with them too – and help them create this exciting new category for their competition as well.
To say I'm excited is a bit of an understatement. We're still working on details, but we're thrilled to share this news today.
